Please consider making a contribution today to the Baden Powell Campfire Area Adopt A Bench Campaign.  Each bench costs $250.  For each $250 contribution you make, we will affix to one of the benches a brass nameplate with the message of your choice.  The Adopt a Bench Campaign is a great way to recognize your Troop or Crew, or a dedicated Scout or Scouter.

Each contribution will help us to achieve our goal.  All contributions of $50 or more will be recognized on a plaque which will hang in the RSR Dining Hall for all to see.

For more information download the campaign contribution form.

New Campfire Area Adopt-A-Bench Campaign

This summer Rotary Scout Reservation will be unveiling the Baden Powell Campfire Area, a dedicated campfire space to enhance the summer camp program at RSR.  The Baden Powell Campfire Area is a natural amphitheater nestled in an isolated and picturesque wooded area, yet it is also close enough to the parking lot to support easy access for parents and visitors on Family Night.

To further develop the campfire area, and improve comfort for our Scouts and guests, we would like to install terraced bench seating.  To make this dream a reality we need your help!

Loyalty Program Deposits Due March 15th

A reminder to all eligible Loyalty Program units: March 15th is the deadline to register individual Scouts for summer camp and receive 2011 pricing.  A $50 deposit per Scout is required and all Scouts registered by that date will receive a special edition Early Bird patch when they arrive at camp

Visit our Registration page for more details.

RSR Opens Internet Equipped Training Center

The opening of Summer Camp 2011 also marked the opening of RSR’s brand new internet-connected Leader Training Center in the Camp Office.  The new training center features two PC workstations, a laser printer, and a projector to support classroom instruction.  Best of all, we can now offer access to high speed internet thanks to a partnership with Hudson Valley Communications and their cutting edge internet service technology.

Internet access at camp has already allowed leaders the opportunity to take advantage of BSA’s online training program through MyScouting.org.  The center is also available for leaders to communicate with work or home.  In addition to the two PC workstations, a third wired access point is available for personal laptop use.  Wi-Fi access is also available.

The Training Center was paid for through contributions to the RSR Thunderbird Club.  Special thanks also to John and Matt Guzzo of Hudson Valley Communications, and to Scouters Jim Sapienza and John Nolan for their time and technical expertise in helping to set up the office network.

Thank You!

Summer Camp 2011 at RSR was an outstanding success!  Over 935 Scouts, along with hundreds of leaders, parents, staff, and volunteers made this summer a season to remember.  Thank you to everyone who made it all possible.

We are already planning for Summer Camp 2012 and the anticipation is high.  Has your troop reserved its site for camp yet?  Campsites are going fast.  Fees for 2012 will be set in the early Fall.  Remember that RSR’s camp fee is all-inclusive, meaning all program materials are included in the price and the Twin Rivers Council has unveiled a new Loyalty Program for troops that register before November 1, 2011.  Visit our Registration page for more information.

Keep checking this website or join us on Facebook to follow all the latest news from RSR and in the meantime, why not visit RSR for weekend camping in the fall, winter, or spring?

Venturing Week 2012 - Sign up today!

Are you ready for your next great adventure in Scouting?  Join us for the first ever Twin Rivers Council Venturing Summer Camp, August 12-18, 2012 at Rotary Scout Reservation.

This is not a traditional Boy Scout merit badge program.  Each activity is designed to offer an advanced outdoor experience for the Venturer, including advanced training opportunities and an immersive experiential program.

Venturing Week is open to Crews or individual Venturers.  Don’t delay.  Sign up today for the experience of a lifetime.  If we don’t have at least 50 Venturers signed up by February 17, 2012, we will lose a great opportunity to become the only camp within 200 miles to offer a Venturing program.
